Choir Information Ian

Ian Riddle was born and educated in Newcastle-under-Lyme, and became church organist at the age of 14. After studying music at Huddersfield University Ian went on to gain a postgraduate certificate in Education at Bretton Hall College. He has held many teaching posts in schools, colleges and universities including Newcastle under Lyme School, Caulden college, Denstone college, Manchester Metropolitan University and Keele University. He now gives tuition in organ, piano and music theory.

As a distinguished accompanist Ian has worked with many opera companies, choirs and soloists both nationally and internationally. These include Yorkshire Opera, Chesterfield Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Leek Choral Society, The Barbara Walton Singers and Rhos Orpheus Male Voice Choir. In 1990 he took part in a concert tour of North Carolina, USA with the Huddersfield Methodist Choir, and in 2019 a tour of Northern France.

For many years Ian has been the accompanist to the Ceramic City Choir and the Audley Male voice Choir, and more recently Keele Bach Choir. Ian is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, a Fellow of Trinity College London, and a Fellow of the London College of Music.
